MEDSOFT DELIVERS GROUNDBREAKING HOSPITAL ROUNDING SOLUTIONS
FOR RESIDENCY PROGRAM AT BARROW NEUROLOGICAL INSTITUTE

HybridChart Software Allows Residents to Focus on Critical Patient Care Instead of Paperwork

PHOENIX – March 31, 2011 – Medsoft, a Phoenix-based distributor of medical software, recently partnered with Barrow Neurological Institute’s Department of Neurology Residency Program to create a customized version of HybridChart, to manage all the residents, their patients and complex schedules. HybridChart is an electronic management tool that blends physician’s existing procedures with efficient new communication and tracking software to simplify the rounding process.

The creator of HybridChart, Dr. Gregory P. Sanders, was following up with one of his cardiology patients at Barrow when he overheard the resident’s frustration with their current rounding and scheduling system. Sanders knew the extensive paperwork and reporting that every resident is required to do and took this into consideration when he created a customized module for the resident’s team.

“We magnified specific strengths of the HybridChart hospital rounding software to create a tool capable of making a difference in the resident’s fast-paced, demanding work environment,” said Dr. Gregory P. Sanders, M.D. FACC. “Their custom-fit system streamlines rounding and scheduling processes and fulfills accreditation documentation requirements so they can focus more completely on patient care.”

Sanders modified the existing HybridChart model, and with the team at Medsoft, presented a software specific to the needs of the residency program at Barrow. It allows each resident to prioritize the day, generate notes for patient’s charts, coordinate with the existing call schedule and generate accreditation reports tracking patients and procedures.

“Given the growing complexity of managing patient information in a modern practice, HybridChart is a uniquely intuitive platform that organizes and manages data in a way that helps our doctors be more productive,” said Dr. Julian P. Yang, M.D. and chief resident for the department of neurology at Barrow Neurological Institute. “In our practice, HybridChart has been tailored to seamlessly aid in cross-coverage of patients, call scheduling, and effective medical documentation.”

HybridChart has been embraced by healthcare groups across the nation for its ability to capture missed charges, seamlessly integrate with current EMR (electronic medical record) systems and increase communication capabilities between physicians and billing teams. HybridChart avoids many of the pitfalls new technology often creates in a healthcare setting because a practicing physician designed it. Its intuitive interface allows for simple training and a phased implementation minimizes operational downtime for billing and management teams.

“It is critical that we create a customized solution that is also painless to implement,” explains Christian Burris, Medsoft CEO. “Our training process and customer support team also ensure billing managers and healthcare administrators are fully engrained with the new system so they can start seeing the benefits – increased efficiency and revenue – immediately.”

The success of HybridChart’s implementation within the residency program at Barrow opens new doors for MedSoft and HybridChart to share this groundbreaking technology. The issues Barrow’s residents experience are not unique to their organization. Many healthcare groups and private practices also need technology that can eliminate challenges – not create new ones.

Yang elaborates, “When many medical software packages are frustratingly cumbersome to use, HybridChart is truly an example of technology elevating the practice of medicine into 21st century efficiency.”
